What is a Microchip?

A microchip is an electronic device (about the size of a grain of rice) that acts as a form of identification for your beloved pooch. Unlike a name tag on a collar, a microchip is more secure and reliable because it is implanted under your pet’s skin. Your contact information is stored on the microchip and each chip has it’s own ID number that, when scanned, will give your information to the vet, shelter, etc so that you can be reunited with your pup!

Microchipping: Myth or Fact?

Assumption #1: Microchips can track your dog’s exact location

Unfortunately, microchips are not a form of GPS and they cannot track your dog’s exact location. The chip can only be read by a scanner once your dog has been found.

Microchipping is a relatively painless procedure that only takes a few seconds. Your dog will feel a quick pinch when the chip is injected between their shoulder blades and there is no anesthetic required.

Why is it Important to Microchip Your Doodle?

Every year thousands of dogs get lost and sadly, not all of them are returned home to their owner. Microchips are a form of permanent identification with your info. Due to the fact a microchip cannot be removed like a collar can, it increases the chances of you finding your lost pet, and faster!
