ABOUT THE AUSTRALIAN BERNEDOODLE
WHAT IS AN AUSTRALIAN BERNEDOODLE?
An Australian Bernedoodle is a unique cross combining the Bernedoodle (the cross between a Bernese and a Poodle) and Australian Labradoodle (the cross between a Lab, Poodle, and Spaniel). You can learn about these individual breeds on our “What is a Bernedoodle” and “What is an Australian Labradoodle” pages.
It is important to note that there is NO Australian Shepherd (Aussie) in this mix.

FAQs
-
Australian Bernedoodles are typically very low to non-shedding. When the parents are carefully selected and paired together, the higher the Bernedoodle generations (F1b, F2, multigen) bred to a true multigen Australian Labradoodle are generally non-shedding. However, it’s important to note that no dog is completely hypoallergenic, as some people may still react to pet dander or other proteins found in a dog’s saliva or skin.

Australian Bernedoodles are exceptionally smart, thanks to their rich genetic background that combines the intelligence of the Poodle, the loyalty of the Bernese Mountain Dog, and the intuitive nature of the Australian Labradoodle. This unique blend creates a dog that is not only quick to learn but also eager to please and highly responsive to training. Australian Bernedoodles excel at picking up commands, routines, and even emotional cues from their humans, making them ideal for families, first-time owners, or even therapy and service work. Their intelligence also means they need regular mental stimulation—like puzzle toys, obedience training, or fun games—to stay happy and well-behaved. Smart, sweet, and adaptable, they’re a joy to train and a pleasure to have around.
-
Much like their parent breeds, it is important to keep in mind that Australian Bernedoodles require firm yet gentle training. They are intelligent and eager to please. Basic training should begin as soon as you bring your Australian Bernedoodle puppy home. Just remember that patience and consistency will be key!
It is important to remember that not all Bernedoodles are the same and some may enjoy more or less exercise to keep them happy and healthy!

They are also known to be a silly, playful breed that thrives with attention which means they are not suitable for someone who is rarely home.

Most are happy with 30-40 minutes of exercise, but if you’re more active then that they will still happily tag along!
