ABOUT THE AUSSIE MOUNTAIN DOODLE

An Aussie Mountain Doodle, also known as an Australian Mountain Doodle or AMD is a combination of three different breeds; the Australian Shepherd, Bernese Mountain Dog, and Poodle.

The Australian Mountain Doodle is not to be confused the Australian Bernedoodle. The difference being that Australian Mountain Doodles have Aussie in their lineage and Australian Bernedoodles have Lab and Cocker Spaniel instead.

We decided to combine these three breeds with the hope of creating a lower energy Aussiedoodle and further improving the lifespan of the Bernedoodle. All while still keeping the shedding to a minimum with thanks to the Poodle!

Aussie Mountain Doodles are a highly intelligent breed and are typically easy to train. While we have not found them to be stubborn, consistency with training is always key!

They need moderate exercise and mental stimulation to keep them from being bored, destructive, and obese. Playing fetch, going on walks/runs/hikes, or swimming are great ways to get your pup the exercise they need. Aussies are generally a fairly active breed while Bernese lean more to the mellow side. This makes the Aussie Mountain Doodles the perfect in-between!

It is important to remember that not all Aussie Mountain Doodles are the same and some may enjoy more or less exercise to keep them happy and healthy!

They are friendly, intelligent dog making them a fantastic choice for an individual or family! They are generally very social dogs who thrive with human attention and should not be left alone for long periods of time. Who wouldn’t want one of these social butterflies as a furry best friend!

If you can’t decide between a Bernedoodle and an Aussiedoodle, then the Australian Mountain Doodle might be the perfect breed for you! They have the health and smarts of the Aussie; the gentle, mellow nature of the Bernese; and the longevity and allergy-friendly properties of the Poodle! Due to the fact that both Poodles and Aussies are extremely smart and eager to please, the Aussie Mountain Doodle does not tend to show express the stubbornness of the Bernese making them quick learners that are easy to train. This breed will definitely keep you on your toes!
