AUST CAV VS CAVAPOO
Australian Cavoodle vs Cavapoo
A Cavoodle, also known as a Cavapoo or a Cavadoodle, is the cross between a Poodle and a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel. In general, Cavoodles range in size from about 8-25lbs as adults and have either a wavy or curly coat.
An Australian Cavoodle is the cross between a Cavapoo and an Australian Labradoodle. At this time, I believe we are one of the only breeders specializing in this cross. Our puppies typically range from 10-25lbs and have either wavy or curly coats.
An Australian Labradoodle (ALD) is a combination of Poodle, Labrador Retriever, and Cocker Spaniel (English or American). There is zero percent Australian Shepherd in an ALD. They originated in Australia which is how they received their name. Australian Labradoodles come in several different sizes - micro mini (tiny), mini, medium, and standard sizes.
Why cross the two?
While our first Australian Cavoodle litters was actually unplanned (thanks Porter!), I fell in love with them. Watching our first litter grow up, I knew this was a cross I wanted to continue.
One concern with Cavapoos is that they have a tendency to develop separation anxiety if left alone for long periods of time (though this is avoidable with proper training). While Australian Labradoodles do love to be with their people as well, this isn’t as common for them.
The Cavapoo and Australian Labradoodle are already relatively similar, with their teddy bear looks and sweet dispositions, they compliment each other quite well. They are gentle natured, playful, and outgoing.

Conclusion
In my opinion, you really can’t go wrong with either breed! However, why not have the best of BOTH worlds!
Due to their small size and lower exercise requirements they do well in most environments. They are loyal, social, and eager to please making them great dogs for just about anyone! However, keep in mind that they still shouldn’t be left alone all the time. They thrive with human interaction and affection.
